Rail

Rail

Composite materials are already widely used in railway applications, with the benefits of cost effective light weight, corrosion resistant parts being well understood, particularly in the interiors of railway carriages.

An increasing number of prepreg solutions are now being seen in more structurally challenging parts as the industry looks to increase fuel economy further, increase passenger or freight payload and reduce damaging loading on existing track infrastructure.

Notus prepreg materials for rail have been formulated for very good mechanical properties and fatigue performance, even under harsh operating conditions.  Fire retardant epoxy and phenolic resin systems have been developed to meet key industry standards such as EN 45545.
